ABB ACS355 Fault Codes - What They Mean
The ABB ACS355 is a machinery drive used on conveyors, pumps, fans, mixers, and OEM equipment. ACS355 fault codes identify the protection function that stopped the drive. The fastest path is to separate supply faults, motor/cable faults, thermal faults, and internal drive faults before replacing parts.

Step-by-Step Fix
- Record the exact code. Do not troubleshoot “ABB fault” in general. The ACS355 code points to a specific protection group.
- Decide when the fault happens. Power-up faults usually involve wiring, supply, or internal hardware. Run-command faults often involve motor cable, motor, tuning, or load.
- Check line power first. For 3130 or 3220, measure all input phases at the drive under load. Inspect fuses, disconnects, contactors, and loose terminals.
- Test the motor circuit. For 2310, 2330, 2340, and 2381, isolate the motor and cable. Test insulation and winding balance before replacing the ACS355.
- Inspect cooling. For 4110, clean the heatsink path, verify the fan, and check cabinet temperature after the door is closed.
- Review motor data and ramps. Wrong motor rated current, aggressive acceleration, or too-short deceleration can create repeat faults.
- Retest with a controlled start. After repair, reset the drive and run the same load condition while monitoring current and DC bus voltage.
ACS355 3130 Quick Fix
Fault 3130 means input phase loss. Start with the upstream fuses, then measure L1-L2, L2-L3, and L1-L3 at the drive. If one phase is low or missing, fix the supply before resetting the drive.
