Samsung Dishwasher LC Error Code — What It Means
The LC code (LE on some models) means the leak sensor in the base pan under the tub detected water. The dishwasher shuts down to protect your floor and cabinets.
Many LC calls turn out to be condensation from a hot cycle rather than a true leak, but the sensor cannot tell the difference, so the pan has to be dried and the source checked.
Common Causes
- Condensation in the base pan A heavy hot wash drips into the pan and trips the sensor with no real leak.
- Loose hose connection A fill or drain hose clamp has loosened and weeps water into the base.
- Worn door gasket A cracked or flattened door seal lets water run down and pool under the tub.
- Cracked sump or tub A split sump, hose nipple, or tub seam leaks during the wash.
- Too much or wrong detergent Oversudsing pushes water past seals and into the pan.
- Faulty leak sensor A corroded or shorted leak sensor reports water even when the pan is dry.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Turn off power and water, then pull the dishwasher out from the cabinet.
- Tip the unit back gently and soak up all water from the base pan with towels until it is fully dry.
- Inspect every hose clamp and the sump for drips while you run a short test fill.
- Check the door gasket for cracks, gaps, or food buildup and clean or replace it as needed.
- Switch to the correct dishwasher detergent and reduce the dose to rule out oversudsing.
- Dry the pan again, reset the unit, and run a normal cycle to see if LC returns.
- If the pan stays dry but LC still shows, test or replace the leak sensor.
Parts Often Needed
| Part | Notes |
|---|---|
| Samsung dishwasher leak sensor | Amazon | Order the sensor that fits your model base pan if it reads wet when dry. |
| Dishwasher door gasket | Amazon | Replace a cracked or flattened seal that lets water escape the tub. |
| Hose clamps | Amazon | Fresh clamps for any fitting that weeps at the connection. |
When to Call a Pro
A reset alone will not clear LC because the pan has to be dried first. If you dry the base, replace the sensor, and the code still returns, there may be a hidden crack in the sump or tub that needs a technician to find and seal.
