“Error 14: Re-install the bin and press CLEAN to restart.” This is one of the most persistent errors for owners of the Roomba 600, 800, and 900 series. Despite the bin being physically attached, the robot’s sensors don’t “feel” it. This usually isn’t a broken bin; it’s a small bit of dust blocking the electrical contacts or a sensor that can’t see through a dirty filter.
The good news is that you can fix Roomba Error 14 with a simple cleaning of the contact points.
Roomba Error 14 means the internal “Bin Detection Sensor” is not receiving a signal that the bin is present and properly locked. This happens because:
| Symptom | Meaning | Severity | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Error 14 | Bin not detected | Low | Clean contacts / Reseat |
| Error 11 | Internal bin motor fault | Moderate | Replace bin module |
| Bin Full Light stays ON | Optical sensors are dirty | Low | Wipe internal sensors |
| No Suction | Clogged filter | Low | Replace filter |
There are small metal contact points that tell the Roomba’s brain that the bin is attached.
If the filter isn’t seated perfectly, the bin will be 1 millimeter out of alignment, which is enough to trigger Error 14.
Inside the bin cavity, there are two small windows (usually black plastic).
