Ingersoll-Rand Compressor Fault Codes — Quick Reference
Ingersoll-Rand SSR and Nirvana compressors report alarms for temperature, pressure, VSD status, and motor protection through the Xe-series controller or older Intellisys controller. The wording changes by controller version, but the failure patterns are consistent.

Most Common Faults
High Discharge Temperature
Dirty package coolers and low oil are the most common causes. In dusty plants, IR compressors can overheat even when the room feels cool because the coolers are packed internally. Clean both sides of the cooler bank and verify fan rotation.
VSD Fault
On Nirvana compressors, the variable speed drive has its own fault history. Do not treat VSD Fault as a single root cause. Pull the actual drive trip, then work from that. Common underlying issues are input voltage imbalance, cooling airflow loss, and motor cable insulation problems.
Low Sump Pressure
If sump pressure drops too low, the compressor may not maintain lubrication or separator function correctly. Check the minimum pressure/check valve, inlet valve operation, and whether the machine is trying to run unloaded under conditions it was not tuned for.
