- Clean the evaporator and water system — Run a full Scotsman cleaning cycle with nickel-safe ice machine cleaner. Rinse thoroughly so no cleaner remains on the plate or water circuit.
- Watch the harvest cycle — Start a batch and observe harvest. You want to see the slab release cleanly and the curtain move freely. If the slab hangs at one edge, inspect the plate surface and distribution pattern.
- Test the hot gas valve coil — Use a multimeter to verify coil resistance and confirm the coil is energized during harvest. If voltage is present but the valve doesn’t shift, replace the valve assembly.
- Inspect curtain movement and switch input — Clean the curtain hinge points and confirm the bin switch input changes state when the curtain opens and closes.
- Reset the system — Power the machine off for 30 seconds, restart it, and verify harvest completes within the normal cycle time without posting code 2.
