Samsung Refrigerator 2E Error Code - Causes & Fix

2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

2E means the fridge compartment temperature sensor has failed or lost connection. Most repairs need a new fridge room thermistor after a reset.

Samsung Refrigerator 2E Error Code — What It Means

The 2E code is a fridge room sensor fault. The thermistor behind the Twin Cool housing in the fresh food section is reading out of range, shorted, or disconnected.

The board cannot hold the fridge temperature without a good reading, so it posts 2E and cooling drifts.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes, then restore power to clear a temporary fault.
  2. If 2E returns, unplug again before opening any panels.
  3. Remove the Twin Cool cover inside the fridge compartment to reach the sensor.
  4. Reseat the sensor connector and check the leads for chafing or pinch marks.
  5. Read the thermistor with a multimeter on ohms, expecting roughly 5k ohms at room temperature.
  6. Replace the fridge room sensor if it reads open, shorted, or well off that value.
  7. Reassemble, restore power, and verify the code clears once the fridge settles.

When to Call a Pro

If a known good sensor still throws 2E, the main control board sensor input is the likely culprit. That board level work is a sensible point to call an appliance technician.
