Samsung Oven C-22 Error Code - Causes & Fix

3 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

C-22 means sensor malfunction. First, power-cycle the oven for 30+ seconds. If it returns, check the sensor, wiring, or control board.

Samsung Oven C-22 Error Code — What It Means

The C-22 code on a Samsung oven indicates a sensor malfunction. Samsung groups C-20, C-21, and C-22 together as sensor faults in its official code chart. The control board is not receiving a valid signal from one of the oven’s temperature sensors. This can be a temporary glitch or a hard failure in the sensor circuit, wiring harness, or the main control electronics that read the sensor.

Samsung’s guidance is to treat C-22 as a sensor circuit or sensor input fault. Many information codes clear after a simple reset. If the code persists after power-cycling, the problem is likely a failed sensor, damaged wiring, a loose connector, or a control board input failure.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Turn off the oven and allow it to cool completely before any inspection.
  2. Power-cycle the unit by switching off the circuit breaker or unplugging the oven for at least 30 seconds, then restore power and test if the code returns.
  3. Access the sensor and harness by removing the back panel or interior racks, depending on your model, and locate the oven temperature sensor probe and its wire connector.
  4. Inspect the connector and wiring for burn marks, corrosion, loose pins, or physical damage, and clean or reseat the connector if necessary.
  5. Test the sensor resistance with a multimeter at room temperature and compare to your model’s service data, since Samsung does not publish a universal C-22 spec in general literature.
  6. Check continuity in the wiring from the sensor plug to the main control board connector to rule out an open or shorted wire.
  7. Replace the failed component after confirming whether the sensor, harness, or control board is at fault, and clear the code by cycling power once more.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
Oven temperature sensor (probe)Amazon | Match the part number to your exact Samsung oven model and cavity position.
Sensor wiring harness or connector kitAmazon | Order if you find heat damage, broken wires, or corroded pins that cannot be cleaned.
Main control board (PCB)Amazon | Replace only after verifying the sensor and wiring test good and the input circuit is proven faulty.

When to Call a Pro

If the code returns after a power reset and you are not comfortable working inside a 240 V appliance, call a qualified appliance technician. Sensor and wiring tests require a multimeter and familiarity with your model’s service data. Samsung also recommends escalating persistent information codes to authorized service when a simple reset does not resolve the fault. If you have already replaced the sensor and the code persists, the control board input circuit is likely at fault and diagnosis requires schematic-level troubleshooting best handled by a professional.
