LG Dishwasher nE Error Code — What It Means
The nE code is a Vario motor error. The Vario motor, also called the water diverter motor, steers spray pressure to the upper and lower arms during the cycle. When the board loses proper feedback from this motor the cycle stops with nE. A failed diverter motor or its wiring is the usual cause.
Common Causes
- Failed Vario motor A diverter motor with windings out of range will not respond to the board.
- Loose wiring A loose or disconnected harness between the motor and board breaks the feedback signal.
- Debris on the diverter Food or glass lodged in the diverter assembly can stall its movement.
- Damaged connector A corroded or melted connector at the motor disrupts the circuit.
- Worn diverter seal A worn seal can let the diverter bind and throw off the position feedback.
- Control board fault A bad main board can misread the motor and post nE even with a good motor.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Power the dishwasher off at the breaker for a minute, then restore power and start a cycle
- If nE returns, disconnect power and water to work safely
- Locate the Vario diverter motor on the underside of the sump
- Inspect and reseat the motor wiring harness and look for corroded pins
- Set a multimeter to ohms and check the motor windings, expecting roughly 2.7 to 4.0 kohms
- Replace the Vario diverter motor if the resistance is out of that range
- Reassemble, run a cycle, and confirm nE stays clear
Parts Often Needed
| Part | Notes |
|---|---|
| LG dishwasher Vario diverter motor | Amazon | Match the diverter motor to your full model number. |
| Diverter motor wiring harness | Amazon | Replace if the connector is corroded or burnt. |
| Diverter seal or gasket | Amazon | Swap if the seal is worn and the diverter binds. |
When to Call a Pro
If the Vario motor windings read in spec and the wiring is clean but nE persists, the control board may be misreading the motor. A technician can confirm the board signal before you replace it, since access means flipping the dishwasher over.
