Likely parts to price
Common VFD, drive, UPS, and cabinet overheating failure point.
Useful to price when faults involve display, keypad, or operator-panel behavior.
Low-cost first check for power-stage and line-side faults.
Price this on drive overvoltage, braking, or deceleration faults.
Haas Alarm 114 is a spindle over speed fault — the spindle exceeded its maximum allowable RPM as defined in the machine parameters or spindle drive configuration. The control monitors actual spindle speed from the encoder and triggers Alarm 114 if the speed exceeds the limit, typically set to protect the spindle bearings, toolholder retention mechanism, and the tooling itself from centrifugal failure. This alarm can appear when commanding high-RPM operations or due to a parameter mismatch after a spindle drive replacement.

CNC alarms should always be diagnosed by reading the full alarm text, not just the number. Modern Fanuc, Haas, and Mazak controls provide detailed alarm descriptions — press the help key while viewing the alarm for diagnostic suggestions. The alarm history screen stores the last 50-100 alarms with timestamps; review this before clearing to identify patterns. A servo alarm (SV series on Fanuc) that appears only during rapid traverse points to a different cause than one that appears during cutting.
Prevention: Back up your CNC parameters monthly. Battery-backed memory faults are much easier to recover when you have a current parameter, ladder, offset, and macro backup. Replace control batteries on a planned maintenance schedule before voltage drops far enough to risk data loss.
Before ordering, match the machine-control part to the model number, electrical rating, and failure symptom. Check current prices on Amazon - prices and availability change frequently.
If the spindle is genuinely overspeeding (audible runaway), E-stop the machine immediately. A runaway spindle is a safety hazard — toolholder retention relies on centrifugal force limits. Have a Haas HFO technician diagnose the spindle drive control loop before restarting.
