Frigidaire Dishwasher Leaking - Causes & Fix

⚡ Quick Answer

Water in the leak pan triggers the i30 fault. Most often caused by oversudsing, a loose hose, or a door seal issue.

Frigidaire Dishwasher Leaking — What’s Happening

When a Frigidaire dishwasher shows a leak symptom, it usually corresponds to the i30 fault code. This means water has been detected in the leak pan beneath the tub, and the machine has entered a leak-protection mode to prevent floor damage.

The i30 fault is specific to water in the base pan. It is not the same as i20, which is a drain or complete-drain fault. Many techs see customers report “leaking” when the real issue is either an actual component leak, oversudsing from too much detergent, or a door that isn’t sealing properly.

How to Diagnose and Fix

  1. Turn off power at the breaker or unplug the dishwasher before any inspection work.
  2. Check the display to confirm whether the fault is i30 (leak pan water) or i20 (drain restriction), since these require different diagnostics.
  3. Pull the dishwasher forward and inspect the base pan for standing water or dampness.
  4. Open the door and look for excessive suds or foam in the tub, which points to a detergent issue rather than a mechanical leak.
  5. Inspect the door gasket area for obstructions, damage, or gaps, and check that racks and spray arms are not blocking the door from closing fully.
  6. Trace the inlet hose and drain hose from the back of the machine to their connections, looking for drips, cracks, or loose clamps.
  7. Examine the circulation pump, sump area, and visible tub seals for wet spots or active drips while the machine is off.
  8. If the pan was triggered by suds or a spill, dry the leak pan completely, correct the detergent amount or loading, and run a test cycle to verify the fault clears.

Parts You Might Need

PartNotes
Door gasket (door seal)Amazon | Replaces a torn, cracked, or improperly sealing gasket around the dishwasher door.
Drain hose or inlet hoseAmazon | Corrects leaks at hose connections or replaces cracked supply or drain lines.
Circulation pump or pump seal kitAmazon | Fixes leaks from the pump housing or worn seals in the circulation assembly.

If your appliance also shows a code on the display, these match this problem:

When to Call a Pro

If you find active water dripping from the pump, sump seals, or tub joints, or if the leak pan continues to fill after you’ve corrected detergent and door issues, call a qualified appliance technician. Internal seal and pump repairs require disassembly of the lower machine components and proper torque on fasteners. A pro can also test for intermittent leaks under pressure and verify that the i30 fault clears after the repair.
