Frigidaire dishwasher error codes are designed to point you toward the problem — not send you on a wild goose chase. Once you know what each code means, most fixes are straightforward. This guide covers the five most common codes: i20, i30, UO, ER, and CL.

2. Inspect the drain hose — pull the dishwasher forward slightly (disconnect power first) and trace the drain hose to the sink drain or garbage disposal. Look for kinks.

3. Check the garbage disposal knockout — if the dishwasher drains into a new garbage disposal, confirm the plastic knockout plug inside the disposal’s drain inlet was removed during installation. A forgotten knockout plug completely blocks drainage.

4. Clear the sink drain — if the sink itself drains slowly, the dishwasher drain will too. Plunge the sink or clear the trap.

5. Test the drain pump — if all of the above check out, the drain pump may have failed. Listen during the drain phase: you should hear an audible pump sound. Silence indicates a dead pump.

i30 — Flood Protection / Water Detected in Base

This is the most urgent Frigidaire dishwasher code. A float switch in the base of the machine detected water where it shouldn’t be — in the drip tray underneath the appliance.

Immediate steps:

1. Turn off and unplug the dishwasher immediately.
2. Tilt the appliance forward to drain the base tray — place towels on the floor and carefully tilt the front down 45°. Water will flow out.
3. Find the source of the leak before running the machine again:

   • Water inlet valve — look for drips at the back connection

UO — Vent / Drying Fan Error

The UO code indicates a problem with the drying vent assembly — either the vent flap didn’t open/close properly, or the fan motor has failed.

Step-by-step fix:

1. Open the dishwasher door and locate the vent, usually in the upper-left area of the inner door panel.
2. Inspect the vent flap — it should move freely. If it’s stuck open or closed with debris, clean it.
3. If the flap moves freely but UO persists, the vent/fan motor assembly has likely failed.
4. The vent assembly is user-replaceable: remove the inner door panel (screws along the door perimeter), locate the vent/fan unit, unplug and swap.

ER — Keypad / Touchpad Error

The control system detected a stuck button or a communication fault with the user interface.

Step-by-step fix:

1. Unplug the dishwasher for 5 minutes — a full power reset resolves transient ER codes.
2. Press each button on the control panel firmly. Sometimes a button gets sticky from spills and stays partially depressed.
3. Clean the control panel with a barely damp cloth — never spray liquids directly on it.
4. If ER persists after a power reset and the buttons all feel normal, the touchpad/control panel membrane is likely failing. This part is replaceable without replacing the full control board.

Identical to the LOC code on Frigidaire washers — Child Lock is active and all button presses are disabled.
