Bosch Washer E17 Error Code - Causes & Fix

2 min read
⚡ Quick Answer

E17 means your Bosch washer isn't filling fast enough. Usually a kinked hose, clogged inlet filter, or closed tap is the culprit.

Bosch Washer E17 Error Code — What It Means

The E17 (or F17) error code on a Bosch washing machine means the water supply time has been exceeded. The machine is trying to fill but cannot get enough water within the programmed time limit. This is a supply problem, not a drain issue. The machine expects water to reach a certain level quickly, and when it doesn’t, it stops the cycle and displays the code.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Turn off the power at the breaker or unplug the machine, then close the water supply tap at the wall.
  2. Check the tap by disconnecting the inlet hose at the wall and running water into a bucket to confirm full pressure and flow.
  3. Inspect the inlet hose along its entire length for kinks, twists, or crushing, and straighten or replace if needed.
  4. Remove and clean the inlet filter by unscrewing the hose from the back of the washer and pulling out the small mesh screen with needle-nose pliers, then rinsing it under running water.
  5. Reconnect everything, turn the tap back on, and run a short wash cycle to see if the machine fills normally.
  6. Test the inlet valve if the problem persists by checking for 120 V AC at the valve coil terminals during fill and listening for a click or hum (replace the valve if it does not open or shows no continuity).
  7. Inspect the pressure sensor and its air tube for blockage, cracks, or disconnection if all water supply components check out but the code remains.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
Water inlet valve assemblyAmazon | Order by your Bosch model number if the valve does not open or shows electrical failure.
Inlet hose or Aquastop hoseAmazon | Replace if kinked, cracked, or the internal filter is damaged and cannot be cleaned.
Pressure switch or pressure sensorAmazon | Needed if fill detection is faulty and water supply tests good.

When to Call a Pro

If you have verified the tap is open, the hose is clear, and the inlet filter is clean but the machine still will not fill or continues to show E17, call a qualified appliance technician. Diagnosing a faulty inlet valve or pressure sensor requires electrical testing and safe disassembly. If your washer uses an Aquastop system and the code persists, a technician can check for internal leaks or sensor faults in that assembly. Any work involving the control board or wiring harness is also best left to a professional.
