Bosch Dishwasher E03 Error Code - Causes & Fix

E03 means the dishwasher did not fill with water in time. Check the supply valve and inlet screen, then test the water inlet valve.

Bosch Dishwasher E03 Error Code — What It Means

E03 means the control board did not see enough water enter the tub in the time it allows. The fill stalled and the cycle stopped.

On many models this traces back to the water inlet valve or a restricted supply. The dishwasher simply cannot pull in the water it needs to start washing.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Confirm the under-sink water shutoff is fully open and run the faucet to check flow and pressure.
  2. Cut power at the breaker, then inspect the fill hose for kinks behind the unit.
  3. Shut the water, disconnect the inlet hose, and clean the inlet screen filter at the valve.
  4. Check the float inside the tub moves up and down freely with no debris holding it.
  5. Test the inlet valve for 120 volts during fill and confirm it opens when powered.
  6. Restore power and run a cycle to confirm the tub fills and E03 clears.

Parts Often Needed

PartNotes
Bosch dishwasher water inlet valveAmazon | Replace if it gets voltage during fill but will not open. Match the model number.
Bosch dishwasher inlet screen filterAmazon | Use if the screen is damaged and will not clean up.
Bosch dishwasher float switchAmazon | Order if the float sticks or the switch fails a meter test.

When to Call a Pro

If the supply is open, the screen is clean, and the valve still will not fill the tub, the inlet valve or control board may need replacement. On some Bosch models the power module is locked down, so have a Bosch technician handle a board fault.
